Ken Gustavsen is Executive Director, Corporate Responsibility at MSD (MSD operates as Merck & Co., Inc. in the US and Canada). He is responsible for a range of developing world health access programs, including the MECTIZAN Donation Program for LF and river blindness elimination. He also leads Merck’s efforts to engage with international and multilateral organizations on commercial and policy issues. In prior positions he supported MSD’s emerging market subsidiaries on a range of policy and government affairs issues. He started at MSD in the Global Procurement department of the Manufacturing Division.
Before joining MSD in 2000, Ken led a post-war relief and development program in Kosovo for the non-profit organization World Relief, with approximately 100 local and international team members engaged in housing reconstruction, microfinance development, and general commodity support. Prior to World Relief, Ken served for 6 years as a Surface Warfare Officer in the United States Navy in a variety of domestic and overseas assignments.
Ken received an MBA in finance and global business from Rutgers University and a BS in oceanography from the United States Naval Academy.
